The Cart and Then the Horse

And this will we do, if God permit.” Hebrews 6:3

In the first verse of this chapter, we hear the challenge from the Apostle Paul to move onto perfection, or completeness. Two verses later we hear him say, “And this will we do, if God permit.”

Question, how many things or times have we tried to force issues, situations, events, and/or occasions simply by our own will, grit, or determination? Only to find our hopes, anticipations, optimisms, and confidence dented, damaged, and disassembled.

There is the old proverbial saying, “We got the cart ahead of the horse.” When the alignment is in disorder, we quickly find out just how quick our progress comes to a halt. Notice, I did not say grinds to a halt. Instead, it suddenly stops. It is simple. It is an unwritten law that disorder brings chaos, and chaos brings turmoil, confusion, and commotion.

Look how closely commotion and commission resemble. One brings things to a halt, and the other is a planned takeover. To be commissioned is to be directed from the commander in chief in a direct order with a plan of attack to change, complete, or transform the situation around you.

Many of our failures have come because we sought our plan of action from the wrong source, friends, family, and business partners. While there is nothing wrong with seeking the nod from one of these, the missing piece to the puzzle is God. We did not seek the will and permission of God.

Again, the command to move forward from Paul was clear, followed by we will do this if God permit. The answer is God is waiting on you to come forward and receive your permission, approval, authorization, and consent from Him.

Where do you think our cities, counties, states, and nations received their blueprint for permits to move forward, build, or construct? The Word of God.

Our prayer for you this week: May we come to the realization and humble ourselves in asking our Master Jesus Christ for permission to move forward.
