Are You Ready?

John 3:3  “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus, a Pharisee who had come to Jesus at night. He told Jesus that he was known to be a teacher sent from God.

After Jesus told him that he had to be born again, Nicodemus said, “How can a man enter a second time into his mother’s womb?” Nicodemus didn’t understand what Jesus was trying to tell him. Simply put, we must accept Jesus as our Savior in order to enter into the kingdom of God. In other words, we need to be saved so we can go to heaven.

More often than not, preachers of all faiths try to put more of man’s rules on what we need to do to be saved. Becoming a Christian isn’t hard at all. All we need do is follow what the Word of God tells us to do. We have to recognize several things in our lives to be born again. First, we need to realize that we are all sinners. Romans 3:10 says, “As it is written, There is none righteous; no, not one.” All of us were born into a sinful world. It is our very nature to sin.

Sin was introduced into the world when Adam and Eve sinned against God, when they ate of the forbidden fruit. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, there is a penalty for sin. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death.” What does that mean? Death here means spiritual death, eternal separation from God. Our sin will keep us from eternal life.

This is why it is important to be ready when death comes or the Rapture happens. To be caught unprepared when these events happen is playing with hell’s fire. I know that there are some who will say “I am a good person.” Just being good will not get you to heaven. It is by accepting Jesus as Savior.

There are those who will not accept Jesus because they don’t believe in God or an afterlife. Let me ask this. Suppose you are right and there isn’t an afterlife and there is no God. I believe that there is and I die. What have I lost? Suppose I am right and there is an afterlife and there is a God. What have you lost? You will lose a wonderful life with the Lord in heaven and will spend eternity separated from Him in hell.

God gave us a choice as to where we will spend eternity. Are you ready to make your choice? If so, all you need to do is to accept Jesus and begin a new life with Him. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

The key word in that scripture is believe. If we don’t believe, then it is all for naught. We believe in numerous things, why not Jesus? You might say, How can I believe in Jesus when I haven’t seen Him? It’s easy, it is by faith. Do you have faith when you are crossing a bridge that it won’t fall? Do you have faith in your doctor when you are going to have surgery that he won’t make a mistake? Of course you do. That is what faith is. So why not have faith in Jesus and believe in Him. Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

If you believe that Jesus died for you and you want to accept Him as Savior, take a moment. Pray to Him and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and invite Him into your life.

Death and the Rapture will happen someday. Why not be prepared and ensure your place with God by accepting Jesus today, because tomorrow may be too late.
