This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

This morning, when my feet hit the floor, excitement about the day’s opportunities floods through my veins. As I sit, looking out the dining room window at a freshly cut field of hay, the sun peeking over the horizon with hot cup of java, I wonder, “What more could one ask for?”

Some people reading this, however, are heading to hospitals, dealing with divorce, preparing for a funeral, filing bankruptcy, fighting withdrawals, and trying to overcome vices life has thrown at you. They have hard business decisions, delayed flights, and rescheduled meetings … The list could go on forever of what we are facing.

You ask, “What has changed in the last 10 to 12 hours from the sunset to the sunrise?” A lot. Yesterday’s sunset was one you had never experienced, closing out a finished day you can never reenter. Today, a sunrise greets you with not just “another day.” You are embarking on new possibilities, time yet lived. Greatness, change, and opportunity that you have yet to walk or journey through await you.

Today, wherever you are, take a moment and STOP (STOP, THINK, ORGANIZE, and PROCEED).

This day does not belong to you, nor do we have any control of it. It has been given to you. Take advantage of it by seeking out new thoughts, horizons, and joys. True enough, we are all facing unpleasant things, but before we get caught up in the negative, take a moment and acknowledge who owns this day and is in control.

The Psalmist said, “This is the day the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” It’s neither mine, nor yours. It is His. He is in control. So, greet it with optimism, excitement, and courage, for today holds opportunities yet experienced by you.

Our prayer for you: Psalm 118:24
