AFFIRM APOLOGETICS by Southwest Radio Ministries exists to equip the believer to engage the world in the arena of ideas. Christians are instructed by Peter to have an ἀπολογία, a reasoned defense, like the case-file of a defense lawyer. When Paul explains in Romans 1:20 that unbelievers or skeptics are without an excuse, the word he uses is ἀπολογία; they have no case. 

AFFIRM APOLOGETICS strives to:

1. ILLUMINATE  The psalmist wrote in Psalm 119:105, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. The oil lamps used in Iron Age Israel used olive oil and a flaxen wick. Unlike a modern flashlight which shines a bright beam to illuminate objects that are many yards away, these simple clay lamps lit only a small area, just enough light to keep the bearer from tripping on a stone or stepping on a scorpion. God’s word gives the illumination needed to face our current obstacles.
2. EDUCATE  The people of the northern kingdom of Israel followed false gods and faced severe judgment as the Neo Assyrian empire conquered the land. The prophet Hosea wrote in Hosea 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. An understanding of the things of God is essential in living a servant’s life under the Lord.
3. DEFEND  Many wolves lurked among the believers of the New Testament church, spreading false doctrines and questioning the veracity of the claims of Jesus. Jude, the brother Jesus, wrote to Christians in Jude 1:3, Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. We must not fear the arguments of the world, but faithfully defend the claims of Scripture.
