Psalms 25:21
“Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.”
Integrity, now there is a word you don’t hear much anymore. From presidential elections to the everyday population keeping the wheels of our nation turning, from the pulpit to the back pew, it seems to have gone silent in this generation.
Before you jump to conclusions and head down a fox trail that I am not on, I am not saying everyone is bad, mad, rude, and out of control. I am sending forth the question of, “Do you know or realize the meaning of integrity?”
The modern-day definition of integrity goes something like this: honor, honesty, honorableness, uprightness, unity, unification, wholeness, coherence. While all of these are what we should be living, the question is, “How do we get there?”
It seems like some in our day think we can live, do business, raise a family, own and run a company, doing, saying, watching, observing, and participating in anything we want to and then buy our way back to integrity. Uh, not!
The ancient Hebrew meaning of integrity is: completeness, fullness, perfection. Now we know what the Psalmist was thinking when he wrote the words, “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.” David realized his estate, wealth and riches, power, influence and authority gained him nothing in the face of eternity.
Realize, at best, that humanity is easily corrupted, dented, scarred, and tarnished. Moments of what we think are permissible, pleasurable, and pleasing can and will ruin the thing our money, notoriety, power, and influence cannot bring back: our integrity.
So what is the answer to having integrity? Colossians 2:10 says, “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”
Our prayer for you this week: May you regain your integrity by being made complete in Him, JESUS.
