A New Start in Christ

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
-2 Corinthians 5:17

To Broadway it is a reenactment, to a photographer a retake. Hollywood calls it a reshoot. Life offers a retry, while the athlete a replay, and TV a rerun. The mechanic calls it a rebuild, while the marksman a reload. To the racer it is a restart, the author speaks of rewrites, builders rebuild.  The electrician rewires, while the constructor reconstructs. Music is recomposed, and the boiler is re-fired.  The book is reread, and the picture re-sketched. The pavement is repaved, while the room is relit. To the automaker it’s a restore, and the tire company a retread.

It seems like everything in life from furniture to garbage has a “re”, from repurpose to recycle, and most of us look at our lives in this manner. What can be done with what is left of the life I have used up, destroyed, damaged, dented, scratched and smashed? How can anyone salvage what is left? Time and chance are against us, the runway is too short for takeoff. How could God possibly get glory out of our lives?

That’s what is so beautiful about Christ. Time is not against Him. Nor is He contained by space, and gravity has no pull on Him. Scripture declares all things were made by Him and for Him.  He started with nothing but The Word.

Never has it been recorded where someone was too far gone for Christ. You may feel like there is little to no hope, that there’s nothing left. But Paul declared to the church at Corinth, “If any man be in Christ,” he is not a re-anything, he is a new creature.

Our prayer for you this week: May you realize this is not a restart, it is a NEW start in Christ.
