Living with things held up inside of you?

“And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.”  Mark 5:13

Isn’t it amazing how kind, loving, caring, and sympathetic Jesus is? Yet, we give Him so little credit. We are so quick to accuse, indict, and charge Him with accusations of not caring, and yet here in Mark 5:13, He is caring enough to grant unclean, evil, demonic spirits a last request.

The astounding thing is the result of the request, a herd of hogs running violently down a hill, plunging themselves into the sea, unwilling to live with what a human will. Why is it so many folk are willing to wallow in a cesspool of unclean spirits, living among the tombs of the past, blaming God and everyone around them for their situation, perplexities, and circumstances?

Living among the decaying, decomposing, disintegrating things buried yesterday will never propel you to victory. The only company you find yourself with are the struggling voices of the hurting that have come to make the last journey with something or someone they are laying to rest.

May we issue a challenge to you today? Quit living with things held up inside of you that even a swine will not live with. Rise above the person in the next office/cubical or across the line from you. Ignore the negative voice of the naysayer sitting on the same pew with you. You do not have to dwell in or entertain dead things.

Jesus really does care for you. If He will grant unclean spirits their request, know He hears you and will answer your request, too.

Our prayer for you this week: May you not be willing to live with what a hog will not even live with.
