Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6
Paul writes and tells the church of Thessalonica in 2 Thessalonians 2:2, “Be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit.” The truth is we are in shaky times. World powers are aligning one against another, jockeying to gain supremacy in the world. Everything from our financial institutions to our family institution seem to be struggling.
There are shortages of products, talk of a digital dollar, fight over fossil fuels and the electric grid, not to mention the price of simple things like eggs, milk, and bread. True enough, if you set and focus on all the propaganda, media, and news institutions wrestling for control of ratings (that seem to be more false than true at times) makes one feel like they are walking in a tilted house at an amusement park. We are trying to walk balanced in an unbalanced world. I love the words of Paul, “Be not soon shaken in mind.”
- Your mind is a powerful organ God gave to you. I can hear my father say, “Don’t let your mind runaway with itself.” Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7 God gave us a sound mind, not a shaky mind.
- Don’t have a troubled spirit. Paul declared you have been given a spirit of power, not of fear in 2 Timothy 1:7.
- Be Confident. He that began a good work in you will perform it. While we may have concerns, respect, and are aware of what is going on around us and the harm that can, is, and has been done, we are to still be confident that the same God that started this work in us will see it through to the finish.
Our prayer for you this week: May you learn to walk in confidence instead of fear, realizing God has it all under control.
