Time is Flying By

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalm 1:2-3

Consider the terms we use while describing life, “This day flew by”, “Time is flying by”, or “Life has flown by”.  In our explanations to others about our lives, we make the comment, “This is where life landed me.” The truth is, this is where we chose to make our approach and landing. We often blame our imbalance on life circumstances and others, not realizing what we meditate on seems to be the direction we head in. Surely our loss, failure, and unsuccessfulness cannot be blamed on us? The Psalmist tells us the recipe for being blessed, where, and how to walk, stand, and sit. A balanced, blessed man has a clear approach to landing in a prosperous life.

I can hear my father say, “What were you thinking, did you think this would turn out different? Did you not see this coming?” If I had checked my approach and landing better, the disasters I faced would be different. You, like myself at times, have wondered about our setbacks/failures in life. The good news is this is not the end. We can get up, dust ourselves off, and take a new approach.

The songwriter said to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water and bring forth fruit. For your leaf to be evergreen and not whither, or to be full of life and prosper, change what is in your radar/view finder. What you meditate on and take delight in has everything to do with where you land, the roots you drive down, and the fruit you bring forth.

Our prayer for you this week: May you come to be unmovable, fruitful, and full of life by changing your focus and meditation to Jesus.
