Nothing replaces vision, “the ability to see the reality of what can be and verbally inspire people to pick up the plow and till their own land/territory and future.” I’m sure you, like I, have heard others talk about potential, whether it is land, business, talent, or vision.
Potential is a word that stays in neutral when one passes or gives up on a situation. The talk is always the same. He/She has, or had, so much potential. I recently read a quote by Helen Keller that said, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.”
Solomon said, “He that tilleth his land”, in other words, he that hath the drive to work his field for not only his future but for future generations. So many of us are like the poker player who racked up 30 million playing Texas Hold’em. The problem was it was on his Blackberry phone in a fantasy world.
How many of us have sat in boardrooms, halls, and meeting rooms with all kind of ideas, concepts, and designs roaming through our minds? Yet, like the Texas Hold’em player, our success is held up in a fantasy world. How many Pastors have sat on Sunday morning daydreaming, illusions of greatness, and imaginations running wild? Yet, we leave the meeting room, lock the church, shake our head, and wonder what it takes for things to change.
Change comes when we are willing to pick up the plow, tools, graphs, or charts and start tilling the territory we are in. It is easy to constantly see the possibility and likelihood for others. But when does growth, success and change happen for us? When we quit living in the land of possibility and start living in the land of vision.
Our prayer for you this week: May you find the courage to sink the plow and turn over a new future.
