We’ll leave the light on for you

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Psalm 27

In every man, woman, boy, or girl there is a “light,” sparkle, or glisten. We call it a candle, and you can find it in his or her eye. It is what we use to quickly assess one’s character, motives, or intentions. You’ve heard it said, “The light is on, but nobody is home.”  When one passes, we’ve heard it said “Their light has gone.” In other words, what lighted them has left.

When I was a young man, every day I heard, “This is Tom Bodett for Motel 6, and we’ll leave the light on for you.” In other words, when you get to your place of comfort for the night, someone will have the room lit for you.

David declares in Psalms 27:1 The Lord is His Light.  In 1 Corinthians 6:19, Paul declares we are a house, temple, or a room of vacancy until purchased for use. Then in verse 2,0 he says we have been bought with a price.

The Holy Ghost is a gentleman. The Spirit of God will never force Himself on you even though He purchased humanity. He leaves you the option of who leaves the light on in you and from where you gain your strength.

Who is the light in your eye? Who is giving you the strength for your journey? David declared the Lord was the light of his life, and when the wicked enemy and foe of his life tried to eat him up, they stumbled. Was he afraid? No, because he knew who was burning in him.

Our prayer for you this week: May you choose Jesus to be the Light of your World.
